Approximately twenty-five thousand residences in southeastern Queensland found themselves without power on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms swept through the area, bringing powerful gusts topping 109 kilometers per hour.
Large Hailstones and Extensive Damage
Residents witnessed large ice chunks measuring up to 7 centimeters in certain regions. Weather authorities verified that different parts across the state had been affected by significant hail.

Response teams were attempting to repair power throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams working to handle the extensive power failures.
Victorian Storm Challenges
Simultaneously, approximately 1,000 residents in Victoria also faced electricity disruptions after Melbourne saw its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.
Emergency response teams handled 598 emergency reports across the area, mainly for property damage but also for fallen timber and inundation.

At one point on the previous day, in excess of twenty-eight thousand electricity consumers in Victoria were without power.
Weather Forecast
Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along much of the state's eastern regions this week as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coast.
Tuesday was forecast to be the wettest day, with ongoing storm activity predicted across various areas of both states.

Medical authorities cautioned that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the northern rural areas, specifically given the current weather patterns.
